Davit Akelyan is an ETICA Research Associate and Lecturer at the American University of Armenia. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Philosophy and is completing his Ph.D. at Yerevan State University, where his dissertation explores fallibilism within the context of contemporary problems in the philosophy of science, with particular focus on epistemic justification, the growth of knowledge, scientific progress, and the implications of Fallibilist Social Methodology for socio-political and institutional issues. He served as a Teaching Associate for the Introduction to Ethics course at AUA (Fall 2024) and was Strategic Program Researcher and Coordinator at The FUTURE ARMENIAN Development Foundation, leading strategic planning and research to support large-scale projects in Armenia and across the Armenian diaspora. He also served as a student member of the Board of Trustees at Yerevan State University (2022–2024).
Davit is a member of the Chatham House Common Futures Conversations program and community, contributing to global discussions on governance and ethical policymaking. He serves as Secretary of the Scientific Artsakh journal’s editorial board. He is a grant awardee for translating Sir Karl Popper’s The Poverty of Historicism into Armenian and for co-founding the School of Philosophy program at Yerevan State University. For excellence in education, he was recognized as the Best Bachelor Student in Humanities by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of the Republic of Armenia (2019).
